Youth Hubs Founder Senthil Perumal was recently named in the Kiwi Bank New Zealander of the Year Awards, in the Top 10 New Zealand Innovators of the Year category. ‘Receiving the local hero award was fantastic experience, and now to receive a Top 10 place amongst such a high caliber of innovators is truly humbling’ said Perumal. After spending several years developing the Youth Hub platform, feedback on the Youth Hub platform since its launch in late 2016 has been resoundingly positive from all stakeholders including Youth, businesses, schools, tertiary providers and service providers supporting Youth. Youth Hub creates communities of impact that empower young people in their education, training and employment journey and has been likened to a ‘LinkedIn for Youth’.
Perumal says he built Youth Hub with youth at heart. “Although there are fantastic services, businesses and educators doing great things for youth, there has been no central system to achieve collective impact. Youth Hub has all fundamentals of social media user experiences that our youth are so conversant with.”
“We live in an incredibly exciting time for youth because they’ve got more options available to them than ever before. Our youth can truly become anything they set their minds to and work towards. That’s an awesome opportunity but it can also be quite overwhelming for some youth, so our platform is there to help guide and inspire them to make the best possible start to whatever career they choose.”
“Being recognised as one of the leading innovators is a great start to 2017 for Youth Hub’ says Perumal. “We have been working on several major developments that will enhance the learning experience even further for both teachers and students and offer employers greater insight into the skills and experiences of students. “We have been fortunate to build a strong and engaged network of stakeholders since launch and their input and feedback since launch has allowed us to make fundamental advancements with the platform. With the evolution of our education pathways Youth Hub aims to be at the forefront of offering technology solutions, many of which will be launching in early 2017. So, watch this space”.
